Livestock traders from Taita-Taveta mostly keep beef cattle and are commonly found on the lower regions of the county. Mgeno Ranching Company Limited focuses on the livestock keeping, protection and management of land, this has earned the ranch carbon credit from the Kenya wildlife carbon. We also keen on wildlife conservancy. We have developed a special relationship with people boarding the ranch.

The locals co-exist with the wild animals and most of the time stray animals are quickly reported for fast response and action to avert human lose and destruction of property. We ensure the surrounding community benefit from the ranch by providing jobs and ensuring registered farms and individuals use our water points for their livestock. We also forging a common stand with other ranches for the benefit of the communities  due to increase in competition for vital land resource such as water, grazing grass and firewood due to rapid population  We have water pans, dams bore hole to provide water for animals to drink water from. The ranch has also purchased Tractor, bikes for surveillance, carrying hay. hay cultivation, general transportation and staff mobility.  We intend to start tourist generating activities and most of jobs are intended to go directly to the locals. futures plans also include extensive hay production for both internal and external use. Training of the locals on proper land use and economic beneficial activities related to land use and wildlife conservation within the ranch and its surroundings.
